What I did
- Wrote the whole iOS app: 77 Swift files, no third-party dependencies, everything on Apple's own frameworks.
- Four-tier storage model. Sensitive data lives in the Keychain and only unlocks on the original device; clinical data is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it touches disk.
- Fully offline by design. No network client, no cloud sync, on-device speech recognition. A journal never leaves the phone.
- A consent engine that knows the law by region (COPPA in the US, GDPR Article 8 in the UK and EEA) and blocks signup where verified parental consent is required instead of pretending to collect it.
- A safety layer every line of user-facing copy passes through, refusing anything that reads as a diagnosis, treatment advice, or medication guidance.
- Shipped the waitlist site on Next.js 16 and Supabase: server-side email/SMS codes, a signups table no browser can touch, atomic rate limiting, Turnstile, and a hand-written CSP.
- Ran the research: teardowns of five competitors and a survey of about two hundred teens. Most answered "no one" when asked who they talk to about their body. That is why the app has no food logging.
